Week 14 Reading

Read Forming by David Takle P. 63-118

  1. Most of us probably do not doubt the truth of the words we read in scripture, but we may have a great deal of doubt as to whether they will ever become a reality in our life. P. 85 In what ways have you experienced this?

  2. The closer we get to the Light, the more our flaws will show up. Thankfully, the closer we are, the less our flaws will condemn us. As our relationship with God continues to grow and we let down our detenses in His presence, more and more things will come to the surface that we may have had little awareness of before. Any lack of trust in God's provision for us or any belief in the scarcity of good things may become evident in the light of His goodness and the extent to which He calls us to depend on Him. Problems we thought we had solved will resurface in new and unexpected ways. But through it all, God holds us in His heart and takes care with each new revelation to heal and mentor us through our restoration. P. 86 How does drawing closer to God help us see our hidden flaws, not to make us feel ashamed, but to lead us into deeper trust, healing, and transformation through His love?

  3. An important thing to understand here is the nature of inspiration and the manner in which God speaks to us. Because He mostly communicates Spirit-to-spirit, much of what we receive from Him comes to us in the form of impressions and images that we then shape into words so we have real content to deal with. P. 90 How can we learn to better recognize and interpret the impressions and images God gives us, so we don't miss what He’s trying to say?

  4. Read Page 110 and think though the idea that we sometime self-censor our thoughts in order to ‘not think things we’re not supposed to as a christian (ie., doubt, fear, confusion). As you think back, is this something you do?

  5. Is there anything else you want to share?
